Authentic vintage Vivienne Westwood dress from the Autumn/Winter 1990–1991 Boulle collection, one of the most recognizable prints in the designer’s archive. The piece is executed in an exceptionally rare red velvet version of the Boulle motif, featuring intricate gold baroque graphics with classical figures, chandeliers, birds and ornamental architectural elements arranged across the entire garment.
The Boulle pattern became one of Westwood’s most iconic visual languages and Vivienne Westwood herself was photographed wearing garments from this print on multiple occasions, making pieces from this series particularly collectible today.
The dress is constructed from rich red velvet with a metallic gold print that catches light beautifully and emphasizes the depth of the fabric. The silhouette is fitted through the upper body and naturally relaxes toward the lower part of the dress, making the sizing fairly forgiving from the waist down. The back features a concealed zipper closure.
As typical for early Westwood velvet pieces with metallic print, the decoration shows light visible cracking, which is normal aging for garments of this period and material and contributes to the authentic vintage character.
